They would like to move the source control for my project from CVS to Visual SourceSafe, which I think is a very bad idea. There is no longer a currently supported VSS client for the Mac & I can’t access the VSS server through the VPN connection from my Mac. One suggestion is to access everything from a shared folder on my PC (which happens to be a very slow ThinkPad), which would be painfully slow.
Macintosh
November is past
It’s now past November, and Canon’s OS X Support Page still says the drivers for my CanoScan N650U will be available in November.
PGP 8.0
I purchased PGP 8.0 Personal this morning, and when I clicked on the download link provided, the download didn’t work. I’ve emailed and called every support address and haven’t been able to reach a live human and I haven’t heard back from anyone there. I’m starting to get a bit upset.
CVS Problems
I’m looking for a good reliable cross-platform CVS alternative that will run as a server on Mac OS X.
I have the CVS repository for my project on my B&W G3, but I’ve been having various problems with it. I’m always able to log in successfully, but other users report authentication failures. I have CVS use its own password file and I copied the encrypted password from netinfo after insuring that he was able to log in successfully, yet that user was still getting authorization failures.
Yet Another Nuke Site

They should have come up with a decent theme instead of using the default.
Problems with Proteus
I’m having some problems with Proteus 2.2a12. It doesn’t seem to properly import my server-side AIM contact list.
Proteus
I’m now trying out Proteus 2.2a12. It looks pretty nice, but I’ll see how reliable it is. I never really cared for Proteus in the past, but I find Fire doesn’t work now.
Fire Fired
I just got rid of Fire because I’ve been having too much trouble with it. Since the 10.2.2 upgrade, I haven’t been able to remain connected to any service with it. I’m now back to using iChat & the official ICQ client. I refuse to run the MSN client, so I’m no longer using MSN Messenger.
w00t!!!!
The Mac OS 9 version of the agent now runs natively under Mac OS 9! I’ve been able to get it to call into the server several times, although I’m still having occasional crashes, which seem to be related to OT functions being called in the wrong context.
PDA Replacement
For a few years, I’ve always traveled with my Palm III or my HandSpring Visor Prism, which replaced it. Except for an occasional game, I used it mainly for my contacts & schedule. The iPod can do both, although I can’t edit or add items.
The iPod can even display alarms for appointments, just like the Visor does. It also makes a nice external FireWire drive. This is a perfect example of how Apple designs a product that goes above & beyond others in its category. It’s a lot nicer than any other MP3 player I’ve seen or used.
